We are a business consulting agency Cabinet ROUZADE, based in Paris and since 2020 helping entrepreneurs open and grow business in France. One day, Julia approached us with a request that turned out to be a real test of our skills.
She dreamed of opening a beauty salon in Cannes, where she could not only work as a hairdresser, but also rent out work places to manicurists, cosmetologists and massage therapists. She also planned to sell professional cosmetics.
At first glance, the task seemed clear. However, it soon became clear that registration companies in France. It will be much more difficult than it seemed.
Difficulties that had to be faced
Problem 1. Lack of a professional diploma
In France, to work in a beauty salon, you need a diploma or confirmed work experience in France. Yulia worked in Ukraine all her life and could not provide documents.
A solution was found: we decided to appoint the client as the salon manager and hire a hairdresser with a professional diploma under an employment contract.
Problem 2. The client’s migration status
Yulia had a temporary residence permit (APS), which complicated her appointment as the manager of her company. In France, the manager must either have a permanent residence permit and live in France, or live in another country (such are the strange laws).
When we submitted documents for registration, the formalists rejected the application, citing the client's migration status. They stated that a temporary residence permit does not give the right to be a company director. But it was important for us to preserve the status of manager for our client so that she could continue to have professional experience.
This was a blow for Yulia, because she had already invested effort and money into renting premises, renovating and purchasing equipment for the beauty salon.
We brought in our immigration lawyers, who prepared a letter stating that Yulia had the right to operate as a management company, since a special regime applies to Ukrainian citizens.
The argument worked: 10 days later the company was officially registered.
Problem 3: Unexpected dismissal of a key employee
Following our recommendations, Yulia hired a hairdresser with a professional diploma, who was supposed to be responsible for hairdressing services in the salon. But after the official opening of the salon, the employee said that she changed her mind and would not come to work.
This was a critical moment. The client had to quickly find a new certified master.
Our solution:
We have engaged our reliable partner, a lawyer, to work with us. Olga de Veck, a specialist in labor law. She urgently prepared a new employment contract and advised Yulia on all the nuances of labor legislation and the specifics of labor law in the beauty industry.
Within a week, the new certified master signed a contract and started work.
Team spirit: the key to success
These obstacles only strengthened our experience and desire to help the client and find an unconventional solution. We and our partners worked as a single mechanism, each of us made a contribution, and the client ultimately felt confident that her dream would come true.
Results
Beauty salon MAISON DE BEAUTE YM was opened on time. The company passed all the stages of registration, and the certified hairdresser officially took up the position. Yulia became the managing director, and the business is successfully operating.
A month later, the salon is already actively attracting professionals and developing.
Conclusion
This case showed that there will always be difficulties in business, but with professional support they can be overcome. We at Cabinet ROUZADE are proud to have been part of this story, to have helped our Yulia turn her dream into reality and to have proven that the impossible is possible.
