Are you a Micro-entrepreneur looking to create enough turnover to ensure a decent standard of living? It is important to know that you have the opportunity to earn RSA while maintaining your Micro-entrepreneur status. Below we explain how to get this help while continuing your business activities.
What is RSA?
Created in 2008, the RSA is a system aimed at providing an adequate minimum income for those with limited resources and facing social disadvantage.
This financial support is administered by the Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF), which takes into account various parameters to assess the amount of assistance provided. For example, elements such as the beneficiary's occupational status and family composition, as well as household income, could be mentioned.
RSA is intended for people aged 25 years and older. Younger people may also be eligible if they have worked for at least two years in the previous three years.
This assistance is also open to families with children, as well as people with disabilities. Beneficiaries are required to actively seek employment and, if necessary, undergo vocational training.
Can we combine Micro-entrepreneur and RSA status?
RSA aims to provide financial support to people with limited resources or limited income. Therefore, all persons who meet the eligibility criteria for this scheme have the opportunity to benefit from it.
The payment of RSA does not depend on the nature of the activity carried out by the beneficiary. Thus, a person with Micro-entrepreneur status can receive this assistance if he meets the required conditions.
In this case, the amount of assistance is calculated in accordance with the income received from the activities of the Micro-entrepreneur, as well as the income of his household.
In order to provide a minimum income for vulnerable and low-income individuals, RSA may be provided to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Be aged 25 years or older.
- Accommodation in France.
- Have French or European citizenship with the right of residence or a foreigner with a residence permit for at least 5 years.
- Have an income below established thresholds.
- Don't be an employee.
How to get RSA as a Micro-entrepreneur?
When considering combining Micro-entrepreneur status with RSA, two scenarios may arise: either the individual wishes to become an entrepreneur while being an RSA recipient, or he is already a Micro-entrepreneur and wishes to obtain RSA.
In both cases, special conditions and special procedures must be observed:
1. RSA recipient who wants to start a business
In this situation, the person continues to receive RSA without filing a new application as a sole trader. RSA is paid as usual before filing your quarterly return.
In this way, the beneficiary can calmly start launching his new project, focusing on market research, finding clients and preparing his proposal, without worrying about his source of income.
After three months, the Micro-entrepreneur submits a turnover declaration to the CFA. The latter will adjust the RSA amount to reflect the recipient's new financial situation.
2. Micro-entrepreneur wanting to get RSA
In this case, the entrepreneur has not yet used the RSA and wants to apply for it. The procedure is the same for all applicants, regardless of the type of activity performed.
A person can make their request online on the CAF website, contact the competent CAF office, or submit their request by mail using Cerfa Form No. 15482.
It is important to remember that obtaining the Micro-entrepreneur status requires meeting certain conditions and that, depending on the professional activity, this status is not available to everyone.
