Today I'll describe a case study of setting up a test advertising campaign to attract followers to an Instagram public page. In the test, I was able to acquire a follower for 0.12 euros (9.5 rubles).
Promoting your account through the Facebook app or ads account is the most transparent way to attract followers to your Instagram page. It's especially recommended for reputation-sensitive campaigns where mass following isn't an option.
Data
The client owns an online fashion accessories store and an Instagram page with 11,000 followers. Previously, the client promoted their account through mass following, but stopped due to reputational risks. They rarely use shopping tags in their posts and rarely write any text or calls to action (this is the brand's policy).
The goal is to promote the account using legitimate methods. The cost per follower is €0.23-€0.25.
Preparation
I analyzed the client's website, the needs of the target audience, and the competitors' communication channels. I suggested creating posts with engaging captions, such as:
- The latest optical fashion news from Paris
- Fashionable glasses 2019 - BESTSELLERS!
- New SS-2019 sunglasses collection
But the client decided not to put any inscriptions on the creatives.
Test
As a result, the following was tested:
- 2 goals: Brand awareness and Reach.
- 2 Groups: Broad Interests France and Lookalike Audience of those who have engaged with Instagram pages worldwide.
- 3 Creatives.
Existing publications that had achieved maximum audience engagement were used as creatives.
Results
The test duration is two weeks. The test budget is €150. The average cost per subscriber based on the test results is €0.34.
The best results were achieved in the brand awareness campaign, with the cheapest subscribers costing €0.12 (9.5 rubles). In the reach campaign, subscribers were slightly more expensive, but the CTR for some ads reached 35%.
Optimization
The campaign needs some basic optimization:
- by floor,
- age,
- countries of display.
Subscribers from France were the most expensive. The client decides what's more important: budget or subscribers from France.
You can optimize the quality of the ads themselves—the quality and relevance of the ads determines the price of the Facebook auction.
You can also reduce the cost per subscriber to a target level by gradually increasing the budget for successful group and creative combinations.
Conclusion
As we can see from the above, with the right advertising campaign, you can get followers to your Instagram page very inexpensively, without risking your reputation or account ban.
