Who doesn’t know my old friend Olga de Veck, she is a lawyer at the Paris Chamber of Lawyers. Her specialization is business and labor law.
Olga will advise the most advantageous defense strategy, clearly and simply explain the proposed choice. She will accompany you all the way from the first appeal to resolving the conflict in court.
So, we discussed several topics:
Who can set up a company in France
If you already live in France, then to open a business you must be of legal age (over 18 years old), have legal capacity and meet one of the following conditions:
- You are a French or EU citizen,
- you have a French resident card valid for 10 years,
- you have an EU Blue Card and have lived in France for at least 5 years,
- You have a map of private and family life in France.
If you do not meet any of the above conditions and are already in France, then you need to submit an application:
- For a temporary residence permit with a business permit.
- Or a talent passport.
If you are not in France, then to open a business you will need to obtain a long-term visa by submitting an application at the French consulate in your host country.
If you are a foreigner and do not intend to live in France, but would like to open a business here, then by law you can open a company by registering it with the appropriate authority.
What are the most popular legal forms in France and what are their pros and cons?
There are many different legal forms of doing business, some of them are specifically designed for different specific business purposes. I will not list all existing ones.
The most popular are:
- EI (IP) – individual enterprise,
- SARL/EURL – limited liability company,
- SAS/SASU is a simple joint stock company.
