Hello, my darlings. If you follow my stories @pampeya, then you already know that yesterday we were together with #AXAATOUTCOEUR helped volunteers from a charity foundation @surfrider_paris.
⠀
Hooray!
⠀
The cleanup was a success; in just 1 hour we collected a whole cart of garbage from the river and embankment. My personal result is 536 discarded cigarette filters.
⠀
After collecting the garbage, we sorted it out:
- plastic,
- glass,
- paper,
- textile,
- metal, etc.
Everything had to be put into different bags. After the event, volunteers told us shocking facts about ocean pollution:
- 80% of trash in the ocean are plastic bottles.
- Next on the list are: cigarette filters, plastic packaging and bags, aluminum cans.
- Between 5 and 13 billion tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year.
- 90% birds living near the ocean have plastic in their stomachs.
- 1 cigarette filter pollutes 500 liters of water.
- In France alone, 30 billion cigarette filters end up in the water every year.
Plastic practically does not decompose; through water, fish, salt and even beer, microparticles enter our body and remain in it forever.
⠀
Do you know why plastic is dangerous for birds? It fills the stomach and the birds do not feel hungry, and then they die from lack of nutrition.
⠀
How to be?
⠀
Before buying anything, it is recommended to use the 5R rule of responsible consumption:
• Refuser – refuse,
• Réduire – if you can’t refuse, reduce consumption,
• Réparer – to repair,
• Réutiliser – use again,
• Recycler – recycle.
⠀
If you are touched by the problems of wildlife and you feel the need to help, go to the fund’s profile @surfrider.
